Political Issues? No thanks!!!

Author: Haris Stavridis
Country: Greece

One of the global and most important phenomena is that youths don't care about what's being done by their governments. They are disappointed of what politicians do and turn their backs to the problems. They choose to "close their eyes and do nothing", they simply accept it.Youths shouldn't have an attitude like this. We should care about what's happening in the political world, because in the nearest future we should vote for our representatives and for the suitable people to govern us. What really makes me feel sick, is that many youths don't really vote or choose their candidates according to what they support, but according to who is the most famous in school and so on. Unfortunately, the way we elect the "President of the School Council" will be the same, when we have to elect the Prime Minister of our country. The thing is that we don't understand this now, we don't understand how important this issue is and that's why we prefer not to get informed about what's happening in our country. We should wake up some day! Those people govern us. Their dicissions influence our lives and our choices.... Shouldn't we at least keep ourselves informed about their actions? Shouldn't we?

You do have a point, many young people aren't interested in "global issues" that concern us all like elections and so on.
But I have to allude to the fact that I'm always amazed at how many young people, are interested and have actually done so much for the world. So young people are really getting to know a lot more about global issues and they are taking a great part in shaping the world we live in. :)

Great, concise article. You are absolutely right with the part of electing the school president; it will be the same when youth grow up and have to choose state representatives, and I even witnessed something like this at college elections last week (but I don't vote for personal reasons). People focus on immediate needs.

However, as Noor said, there is a decent amount of young people that is taking interest in political issues and suggest a positive future for our society :)*

Thank you Vic and Noor!
There is definately an amount of youths who really care about what's happening in the political background and want to change it, but we are a few... :(

But... Let's continue our actions for improving this world and hoping for the best ;)
