What can we hope for now?

Growth and personal commodities have become a symbol for ultimate happiness for our society in general. Our generation has been raised with a consumerist ideology with which most of us can only think about growing, whether in regards of age, financial success, house size or any other material possessions. Many teens nowadays can recognise thousands of major labels in the media but only a few plant and animal species in the world. Clearly contradictory, right?

I can tell you that we are endangering our species every minute due to the careless attitude we have towards our environment and the next minute be complaining about how I cannot find a date for my prom party. On a more external note, when I went to the cinema to match “An Inconvenient Truth”, Leonardo DiCaprio’s movie about climate change, I went to the fanciest district here and, supposedly, the one that should show more concern to issues of that sort. It had premiered the day before and only eight people were there. It is funny, but also humiliating as it shows people’s indifference to global problems.

We are being raised with a dual and selfish attitude that reveals a flaw in the apparent master plan we call “human development”. What can we do to change the level of awareness of the people around us? Can we hope for a peaceful, non-pollutant world instead of a flee to space a few years from now due to excessive radioactivity on our Earth for wars? I certainly hope to at least have a decent generation that is not so interested in money and is concerned about external problems around the world.

And maybe climate change is not the most risky issue nowadays. Maybe it is poverty and lack of quality education that forces the vast majority of the world population to not know a thing about global warming or anything more than the house they live in. I am clueless on what I should do now to address this, but maybe you can think of some good ideas –ideas we as young people can take– on how to tackle the situation. That way we can inspire the world to change.

A message that must be conveyed

This is an incredible piece of message I would like to share with you and wish that you make the most of this wonderful message....

It was a sports stadium. Eight Children were standing on the track to participate in the running event. * Ready! * Steady! * Bang!!! With the sound of Toy pistol, all eight girls started running. Hardly have they covered ten to fifteen steps, one of the smaller girls slipped and fell down, due to bruises and pain she started crying. When the other seven girls heard her cries, they stopped running, stood for a while and turned back, they all ran back to the place where the girl fell down. One among them bent, picked and kissed the girl gently and enquired 'Now pain must have reduced?' All seven girls lifted the fallen girl, pacified her, two of them held the girl firmly and they all, the seven of them, joined hands and walked together to reach the winning post.

Officials were shocked. Clapping of thousands of spectators filled the stadium. Many eyes were filled with tears and perhaps it had reached GOD even! YES! This happened in Hyderabad . The sport was conducted by National Institute of Mental Health. All these special girls had come to participate in this event and they are spastic children. Yes, they were mentally retarded. What did they teach this world? Teamwork? Humanity? Equality among all?????

Successful people help others who are slow in learning so that they don't feel far behind.
